Personnel: Hammond Elected Chairman of Pennsylvania’s Climate Change Advisory Committee
Mark Hammond was elected Chairman of Pennsylvania’s Climate Change Advisory Committee (CCAC) in December 2018 by a unanimous vote of the CCAC’s members. Mark has been involved with the CCAC in various capacities since its inception, and previously served a pair of two-year terms as its Vice-Chairman.
The CCAC advises the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) regarding implementation of the Pennsylvania Climate Change Act, including but not limited to, the development of the state’s Climate Change Action Plan and Climate Change Impacts Assessment Report, as well as PA DEP’s preparation of greenhouse gas emission inventories and other climate change related activities that PA DEP requests.
Under the Act, members of the CCAC are appointed based on their interest, knowledge or expertise regarding climate change issues, and the CCAC membership reflects a diversity of viewpoints on climate change issues from the scientific, business and industry, transportation, environmental, social, outdoor and sporting, labor and other affected communities.
The fourth Climate Change Action Plan is nearing completion and is expected to be released by PA DEP in the first or second quarter of 2019.
